This calculator is more accurate than traditional weight tapes because it considers both heart girth and body length, plus horse age/type. It's designed for estimation purposes and typically accurate within 50-100 lbs for most horses.

Use a flexible measuring tape and wrap it around your horse's barrel just behind the front legs at the largest part of the chest. Make sure your horse is standing square and the tape is snug but not tight.
