Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Day Counter calculate the number of days?

The Day Counter subtracts the start date from the end date to find the total number of days in between. Each day is counted as exactly 24 hours, so daylight saving time changes are not factored into the result.

What does 'include end date' mean?

When you check 'Include end date in calculation', one extra day is added to the result. For example, if your start date is January 1 and your end date is January 5, the default result is 4 days. Including the end date gives you 5 days, counting both the first and last day.

Can I count days backwards — with a start date later than the end date?

The calculator will still compute the difference between the two dates and return the absolute number of days. Simply make sure to note which date is earlier to interpret the result correctly.

How many weeks are there between two dates?

The total number of days is divided by 7 to give you weeks. For example, 30 days equals approximately 4.29 weeks. The calculator also shows the exact breakdown as whole weeks plus remaining days.

Does the Day Counter account for leap years?

Yes. Because the calculator works directly with calendar dates, leap years (with their extra February 29th day) are automatically accounted for in the result.

How do I count only business days or working days?

This Day Counter calculates all calendar days, including weekends and public holidays. For a business-day count, you would need a dedicated working-day calculator that lets you exclude weekends and holidays.

What is the difference between a day counter and an age calculator?

A day counter calculates the total number of days between any two dates you choose. An age calculator specifically measures the time from your birth date to today, typically expressing the result in years, months, and days.

How do I calculate how many days until a future event?

Set today's date as your Start Date and the event date as your End Date. The result will show exactly how many days remain until your event, along with the equivalent in weeks, months, and years.
