Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add years, months, weeks, and days to a date?

Enter your start date, select '(+) Add' as the operation, then fill in how many years, months, weeks, and days you want to add. The calculator instantly returns the resulting date and shows you the day of the week it falls on.

How does the calculator handle months with different numbers of days?

When adding or subtracting months, the calculator follows standard calendar rules. For example, adding one month to January 31 results in February 28 (or 29 in a leap year) since February doesn't have 31 days. The result is always the last valid day of the target month.

What is the difference between adding calendar days and adding weeks?

Adding calendar days moves the date forward or backward by the exact number of days specified, one at a time. Adding weeks is equivalent to adding a multiple of 7 days. The calculator handles both simultaneously, so you can combine weeks and days for maximum flexibility.

Can I subtract dates to go back in time?

Yes. Select '(–) Subtract' as the operation and enter the number of years, months, weeks, and days you want to go back. The calculator will return the date that many units before your start date.

How are leap years handled in the calculation?

The calculator fully accounts for leap years. If your start date is February 29 in a leap year and you add one year, the result will be February 28 of the following non-leap year, since February 29 doesn't exist every year.

What is the Gregorian calendar and why is it used here?

The Gregorian calendar is the internationally accepted civil calendar used worldwide today. It consists of 365 days in a standard year, with a leap day added to February every four years (with century-year exceptions). This calculator uses the Gregorian calendar for all date arithmetic.

Can I calculate a date far in the future or past?

Yes. The calculator supports adding or subtracting up to 999 years, 999 months, 9,999 weeks, and 99,999 days. This makes it suitable for both everyday date planning and longer historical or future projections.

Why would I use a calendar calculator instead of counting manually?

Manual counting is error-prone, especially when crossing month boundaries, year-end dates, or leap years. A calendar calculator handles all these edge cases automatically and returns an exact date in seconds, saving time and eliminating mistakes.
