Time Calculator

The calculator converts both time values into total seconds, adds them together, then converts the result back into days, hours, minutes, and seconds. For example, adding 1h 50m and 0h 25m gives 2h 15m, because the 75 minutes are automatically carried over into hours.

If the second time value is larger than the first, the result will show as negative total seconds, indicating the second duration exceeds the first. The individual day, hour, minute, and second components will reflect a negative result. Make sure to swap your values if you want a positive result.

Yes — any input field left blank (or set to 0) is treated as zero. You don't need to fill in all four components. For instance, entering only hours and minutes is perfectly valid.

The calculator automatically displays the total result in decimal hours. For example, 1 day, 2 hours, 30 minutes equals 26.5 decimal hours. This is useful for payroll, billing, or any application that requires fractional hours.

Adding time combines two durations — for example, a 2-hour task plus a 3-hour task equals 5 hours total. Finding time duration measures the gap between a start time and an end time — for example, from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM is 5 hours 30 minutes.

There are 60 seconds in a minute, 3,600 seconds in an hour, and 86,400 seconds in a day. The calculator uses these conversions internally to ensure accurate addition and subtraction across all time units.

You can use it to add up two work durations or subtract a break from a total shift length. For more advanced weekly timesheet calculations with multiple days and break deductions, a dedicated hours calculator or timecard tool may be more appropriate.

To add three or more time values, add the first two together, note the result, then use that result as your first value and add the third duration. Repeat as needed for additional values.
