Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Days Between Dates Calculator work?

The calculator subtracts your Start Date from your End Date to find the total number of calendar days separating them. If you enable 'Include End Date,' one extra day is added to the count. Business days are calculated by stepping through the date range and skipping Saturdays and Sundays.

Does the calculator include the end date in the count?

By default, the end date is not counted — only the days strictly between the two dates are included. Toggle the 'Include End Date' option to add the final day to your total, which is useful for counting inclusive date ranges such as event durations.

What counts as a business day in this calculator?

Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays are not automatically excluded because they vary by country and region, so you should manually adjust your count if holidays apply to your situation.

Can I calculate days between dates in different years?

Yes — the calculator handles multi-year ranges correctly, including leap years. February 29 is automatically accounted for when it falls within your selected date range.

What happens if my end date is before my start date?

The calculator will still return the absolute number of days between the two dates, treating the later date as the end regardless of which was entered first. Always double-check your inputs if you expect a specific directional result.

How is a 'week' defined in the results?

One week equals exactly 7 calendar days. The 'Complete Weeks' result shows how many full 7-day periods fit into your date range, and 'Remaining Days' shows what is left over after those full weeks.

Why might my result differ from another date calculator?

The most common source of difference is whether the end date is included or excluded. Some calculators add 1 to include the end date by default; others do not. Make sure both calculators use the same inclusion setting before comparing results.

Can I use this calculator for legal or court deadlines?

This calculator provides a general count of calendar and business days. For legal, contractual, or court deadlines, always verify with a qualified professional, since jurisdictions may define 'business days' differently and exclude specific holidays.
