Yes or No Generator

Can't decide? Let the Yes or No Generator make the call for you. Choose your answer mode (Yes/No or Yes/No/Maybe), set how many rounds to track, and hit Generate to get a random answer. Your result, along with a running tally of Yes, No, and Maybe counts, updates every time you spin.

Choose whether Maybe is included as a possible answer.

Type your question to keep things focused — purely optional.

%

Set the likelihood of a Yes answer. Default is 50% (fair coin flip).

%

Set the likelihood of a No answer. Yes + No (+ Maybe) should sum to 100%.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Yes or No Generator work?

The generator uses JavaScript's built-in random number function to produce a truly unpredictable result each time you click Generate. Depending on the probability weights you set for Yes and No, it picks an answer at random from the available outcomes. At 50/50 it's essentially a fair coin flip.

Is the result truly random?

Yes — each result is generated using Math.random(), which produces a pseudo-random number that is statistically uniform across outcomes. No pattern is stored or repeated, and the generator has no memory of previous answers.

What is the difference between 'Yes or No' and 'Yes, No, or Maybe' mode?

In Yes/No mode only two outcomes are possible, split according to your probability settings. In Yes/No/Maybe mode a third outcome — Maybe — is added. The Maybe probability is calculated automatically as whatever is left over after your Yes and No weights are applied.

Can I skew the odds in favour of Yes or No?

Absolutely. Use the Yes Probability and No Probability sliders to adjust the likelihood of each outcome. For example, setting Yes to 70% and No to 30% means Yes will appear roughly seven times out of ten over a large number of rounds.

When would I use the 'Number of Rounds' option?

If you want to see a statistical spread rather than a single answer — for example, to test how a biased coin would behave over time — increase the number of rounds. The chart and table will show the full distribution across all simulated rounds.

Can I use this tool to settle a debate with friends?

Yes! The generator is completely neutral and has no bias toward either party. Set both probabilities to 50% for a perfectly fair outcome, then share the result. Because the logic is transparent, both sides can trust the answer.

Does the generator store my question or results?

No data is sent to any server. Everything runs locally in your browser, so your question and results are completely private. Refreshing the page resets all counts.

What are some good use cases for a Yes or No Generator?

Common uses include breaking a tie between two choices, settling trivial everyday decisions (what to eat, whether to take a break), classroom activities where a teacher randomly calls on yes/no responses, game decisions, and any situation where you need a quick neutral verdict without overthinking it.
